InDesign gives you control over the layout of your body text and your headers by using ‘paragraph styles’. These offer you a great deal of control and automation.
Time: 20 minutes
Continue from the previous exercise
Steps:
- Open your work from the previous exercise.
- Now that you have created a layout with some dummy content, place at least 5 headers throughout your text.
- Select the first header and style the text.
- Select Window > Styles > Paragraph Styles (F11)
- Click the Create new style button in the bottom of the palette. This creates a new style called Paragraph Style 1.
- Click on it to set the selected text to this style.
- Now select your next header and click the Paragraph Style 1.
- Repeat this for all remaining headers.
- When you are done, double click the Paragraph Style 1.
- Rename your style to Header 1.
- Take a look at the other options and make some changes (for instance the size or color). Note how all headers are changing.
